Liz Straka
Liz is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education. She started her career early, and as a young teen had the chance to work alongside many individuals with developmental disabilities. It was this experience that shaped Liz’s conviction that a deficit reflects the opportunity to uncover strengths, joys, and abilities instead of presenting only obstacles.
While earning an undergraduate degree in psychology, Liz also completed a certificate in gerontology. This allowed her the chance to work in long term care, supporting adults with mid- to late-stage dementia. This experience served to reinforce the fact that growth and development are constants throughout the whole of life, and not relegated to only the young. As such, Liz is committed to developing behavioral interventions with this in mind, and feels especially passionate about designing programming that supports adaptive skills.
Since 2004, her work has largely been focused in the field of autism spectrum disorders. She has collaborated with families to develop programming for both home and school environments and enjoys the unique opportunities for growth that both settings provide. Currently Liz serves students, along with their families and school staff, as a district level BCBA for a front range school district. She is thrilled to share her experience and to continue learning as she joins in the challenging and important work at Autism Services and Programs.
